diffraction. This allows for the reliable and accurate acquisition of particle size distribution
data continuously in the range 0.4 μm to 900 μm diameter without any discontinuity of data.
Results are generally emailed to clients as PDF files. In addition, we offer assistance with
interpretation of results at no extra charge.
Particle size analysis involves the dispersion of a sample in a liquid with which it is
unreactive and insoluble. At MCA Services we have applied many different fluids to particle
size analysis, which ensures compatibility with a wide variety of samples.
Three tests are available at MCA Services for particle size analysis and are distinguished
according to the fluid used for sample dispersion.
SC30 test - particle size analysis using filtered water carrier.
SC31 test - particle size analysis using a water-miscible fluid carrier (for example
alcohols).
SC32 test - particle size analysis using a water non-miscible fluid carrier (for example
mineral oil).
Samples provided as dry powders, dispersions and slurries may be applied to any of these
techniques.
The staff at MCA Services will be happy to discuss the technique and advise on the
suitability of the test protocols available.
